Alas, sad news… (but we’re coping well)

Well, while the chanteuse and I will be attending Dragon Con this year, it will be only as spectators. We’re not too bummed out, as we’re very determined to get in eventually. Just not this year.

What’s that? You’re disappointed too? You’re one of the countless people over the past year that have told us we’d be a perfect fit (we agree, incidentally)?

Well. Don’t tell us. Tell them. We’re obviously prejudiced, so your voices carry ever more weight than ours. Like what you hear and see from us? Tell your friends who are into this kind of thing. Come out to our shows. Consider showing your support by purchasing a copy of Five Nocturnes or one of Sarah’s Gothic creations.

In short, this is collaborative: we can’t do it without you, our fans. We’ll be playing more shows, releasing more music, and doing our utmost to get out to more cons near you. We will do everything we can to create sincere, intelligent Gothic/Steampunk Macabre shows and albums, and while we do this to fulfill our own inner imperative, ultimately, we’re making all this for you.

So, if you’ve ever came up to us after a show, given compliments, spent some time with us, and wondered/asked how you can help, now you know: our enemy is obscurity.

Not our lack of a drummer or a guitarist.

I shall boycott DragonCon in protest!

  2. valentinewolfe says:

Well, thank you! But we’d like it better if you just simply Told Them One Thing next year.

  3. I’m readying the picket signs as we speak. Or type, whatever.

  4. creepysusie says:

Do we email them? I can do this…as well as some others to express our interest in seeing VW and our dismay that we won’t be able to see VW at the con this year. If you guys had been playing I woulda reconsidered my decision to not go this year.

  5. Jay says:

Picket signs? I was hoping more torches and forks. If you’re going to protest, have some fire (all the better to hold their feet to since we’re mixing and matching cliches).

If I know anyone in decision making positions with DragonCon, it’d be in techy or security stuff. Unfortunately, that won’t help you get in the door, but once you do, I can definitely say you’ll be secure and techified. I’ll still talk to who I can. It can’t hurt in anything but a good way right?

We like torches! But we’re fans of the con, and we’re still going, and we understand…I’m not sure how many true fans we have, but I know it is under 1000. So simple math doesn’t work out in our favor.

We want to use this as motivation-for us, it means we’re going to work our tails off writing, recording, and performing-this makes the best case for us being a house band! Ultimately, our plan is that the fans will speak, and the organizers will have to listen.

We appreciate everyone’s expressions of support, and we will just make sure we keep up our momentum. This wasn’t out time…yet.

  7. Do you know who we, your loyal and rather erudite fans, should contact to let our opinions be known? I’ve been looking for a way to make recommendations to the band committee for years but have never had any luck.

  8. Rebecca says:

Have you tried the Bohemian, on Stone? They usually pull in interesting groups on Friday evenings…..

  9. valentinewolfe says:

We really don’t, sadly…I’ve been trying to figure that out. However, due to the relative paucity of the current music roster, I’m assuming there’s much more to the tale than we’re aware of. I’m hoping to find out more about the whole thing soon…I think it’s bizarre that there’s no way to make suggestions, but that’s a topic for a soon to be written diary entry.

  10. valentinewolfe says:

We know the BoHo pretty well…I wonder that we’re not quite their style? It might be worth a look…
